The project is the result of my collaboration with fashion & costume designer Martijn J. Kramp - who created costumes for the opera performance. ‘Doctor Atomic’ - the story of J.R.Oppenheimer, haunted by doubts over his new invention. Isn’t it something we all feel a bit while being immersed in technological fast-paced currents and developments? Are our exciting tools only the tools in hands of responsible creators or there is a ‘two sides of the coin’ effect that we are not fully aware of yet? Are we really those good guys that we want to be? Those questions we all constantly ask ourselves as AI creators and explorers. Getting further inspiration from Oscar Schlemmer's Triadic ballet, Bauhaus and W. Kandinsky's paintings, I’ve created AI surroundings for our shoot with real models/dancers. The combination of photography and AI gave me a perfect possibility for experimentation within the topic without any limitations, which would certainly occur in traditional fashion shoots - building costly set ups, without any further freedom to adjust. This way of working allowed me to showcase the designs as they are (without alterations) and to connect to a real person as a photographer, in this win-win situation when technology meets reality.
